Choosing a Refrigerator For a Kegerator Conversion

There are normally two types of refrigeration models that are good choices for typical kegerators, and these are the stand-up refrigerator and the waist high or chest freezer. Regardless of the brand, what is important is that the refrigerator to be converted must be ideal and congruent with your space requirements.

You have to determine if you want a storage space for your beer or if you would prefer it for serving purposes and for how many beers you would like to serve at any given period, as these considerations would help you choose the right refrigerator for your kegerator conversion.

The most commonly used type for kegerator conversions by kegerator enthusiasts is the stand-up refrigerator, because the conversion process for this type is the easiest and most convenient. All you need to do on this refrigerator type is to drill a few holes into the door and install your beer shafts and overflow tray.

However, you have to be sure that the stand-up refrigerator to be converted does not have coolant lines in the door. To be sure, you should inspect the inner lining of the refrigerator first to check if there are refrigerant lines across the door before drilling the same.

When considering small refrigerators and freezers, always make sure to measure first the dimensions to check if the standard size beer keg or Cornelius keg would fit in the refrigerator casing or not. Also ensure that the bottom or floor of the refrigerator is flat and level, otherwise you may include making a false bottom as part of the kegerator conversion to avoid the kegs falling off every time you open the refrigerator door.

If you are looking into installing more than three taps for your kegerator, or pondering over installing a large storage space for serving beer or for cold beer storage, you may want to consider converting a large storage freezer over a regular refrigerator. These large conversions are more complex altogether, although instead of having simple beer shafts into place, you will have the luxury of including draft towers, and with extra storage space can even afford you room for serving beer.

Some freezer units are large enough to accommodate six to eight taps, depending on the size of kegs you will store, and this would require extensive knowledge and experience in carpentry and electronics works. Most refrigerators and freezers that would be up for kegerator conversion will need modifications to the temperature controller as well. You are advised to do the conversion only when you are equipped with the skills and making sure that the unit is unplugged when you do so.

Always remember to ask the help of a recognized electrician to do the more sensitive and critical aspects of the conversion for safety's sake. Also, make sure to evaluate your precise needs first before choosing a refrigerator or freezer for kegerator conversion, in order to get the maximum benefits of your own kegerator at home.

Protecting Your Electrical Devices From Surges is Really Important

An airsoft shotgun can come with either a full stock or a pistol grip. The right grip for you really comes down to a matter of personal choice. Barcelona Hotels

Barcelona is a wonderful city for anyone looking to escape the expensive retreats of France and Germany. Hotel prices in Barcelona can still be rather expensive, but if you know when to travel, you can find great discounts and stay at some hotels that you might not otherwise be able to afford. Now it is time to find you one of the great Barcelona hotels that are scattered throughout the city.

A nice hotel in the Barcelona area is the Hotel Montecarlo. While we are not in the south of France, the Hotel Montecarlo still provides a wonderful place for you to sleep at night. The hotel's building is rather large, meaning that you will not be cramped up with dozens of other travels in a small single building. All of the staff at the hotel are very nice and polite as well as willing to help with any problems that you might be having. The hotel rooms themselves are beautifully decorated, as well as recently renovated. You truly cannot get this great of a situation for this low of a price anywhere but at this hotel!

Another great hotel that is closer to the city center, and a tad bit more expensive is the Barcelona Center Hotel. When you are staying in the middle of a European city, you are right in the middle of the action. For people who choose to stay at the Barcelona Center Hotel, this is the exact same situation. However, after you have finished being involved in town during the day, the rooms are well furnished as well as have great air conditioning for a customary afternoon siesta. The breakfast buffet is one of the best in Spain, and many guests say that they enjoy the food so much that they would be willing to come back to Barcelona just for the food at the Barcelona Center Hotel.

The Principal Hotel is another great place for tourists to stay when they come to Barcelona. It is only a three star property, but still has plenty of charm and chrism to offer to guests who plan on stay at the hotel. The rooms are cleaned very thoroughly, and other guests comment on how warm and welcoming the staff of the hotel are. If you ever have a problem they are very attentive and will try to fix it as soon as they possibly can. While there may not be as much to do at The Principal hotel as some other hotels in Barcelona, the hotel is centrally located to nearby restaurants and shopping centers. You can easily stroll down the long roads and find a great bite to eat as well as pick up a couple of gifts for your friends back home.

Whether you decide to spend the bare minimum or want to live in elegance, there is a Barcelona hotel for you. It may seem difficult to stay at just one hotel in Barcelona, but there are so many opportunities to come back that you hopefully will be able to get to experience a wide variety of great accommodations.

Women More Concerned About Fuel Increases

The results of a poll held in Australia have found that women drivers are more concerned about the costs of fuel than men.

Women, whose greater consideration for safe driving in many cases results in much lower car insurance premiums, also appear to be more considerate when it comes to the costs of petrol, according to the survey from NEWS.com.au and Coredata.

Some 86 per cent of women motorists said they were worried about the ever rising price of petrol, compared with a slightly lower 80 per cent of men.

Furthermore, 66 per cent of women surveyed said they were trying to economise on their overall petrol usage, while only 59 per cent of their male counterparts, who will generally pay higher car insurance premiums, said the same.

Almost half of women drivers revealed that they were looking to purchase a small car. Those shopping for female car insurance could benefit from such a move, as small cars generally have smaller car insurance premiums.

Contrastingly, under a third of men said they were considering buying a small car.

Petrol price worries are not unique to Australian women drivers - both male and female British drivers may have felt the strain on the pocket of rising fuel costs over the last few years.

And like in Australia, many men and women drivers in Britain may also be considering purchasing smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles to cut costs.

Buying a new car often provides a good opportunity to review car insurance policies and some providers specifically offer motor insurance for women, given their statistically better safety profiles.

A survey earlier this year from the car manufacturers ‘Chrysler Group’ found that men and women drivers felt differently about the standards of each other's driving, despite the fact they agreed on aspects of driving itself, such as evading objects and bad weather.

      Yield: 10 Servings

 

      1 lb pork,ground lean

  2 1/2 lb chuck,ground

  1 1/2 lb onions,chopped

      1 lb green peppers,chopped

      5 c  tomatoes,chopped

    1/2 lb pinto beans

  1 1/2 T  oil

      2    garlic cloves

    1/2    parsley,chopped

    1/2    utter

    1/3    hili powder

      2    alt

  1 1/2    epper

  1 1/2    umin seeds

  1 1/2    sg

      1    water

 

Soak Beans in Water to cover overnight. Drain, cover with cold Water

and simmer until Beans are tender, about 1 hour. Add Tomatoes ans

simmer 5 min longer. Saute Green Peppers in Oil until tender, add

Onions and cook until tender.  Stir frequently. Add garlic and

parsley. In another skillet, melt Butter and add Chuck and Pork.

Brown 15 min until crumbly.. Add to Onion mixture and stir in Chili

powder. Cook 10 min and add mixture to Beans. Season with Salt,

Pepper, Cumin seeds and MSG. Simmer, covered 1 hour, then remove

      1    nutmeg,ground,whole

      1 t  cumin

      2 t  oregano,dried,pref. mexican

      4 T  sesame seeds

      1 c  almonds,blanched,skins remov

     12    red chiles,whole dried or

  1 1/2 c  chile caribe

  1 1/2 oz milk chocolate,small pieces

      1 cn tomato paste(6oz ea)

      2 T  vinegar

      3 t  lemon juice

      1    soft tortilla,chopped

      1    salt

 

1. Place the rinsed beans in a bowl, add 2 to 3 cups of water and

soak

overnight. Check the beans occasionally and add water as necessary to

keep them moist.

2. Pour the beans and the water in which they were soaked into a heavy

saucepan and add 2 to 3 more cups of water. Bring to a boil over

medium-high heat, then lower heat and simmer, partially covered, for

about 45 minutes, until the beans are cooked but still firm. Check

occasionally and add water if necessary. Drain the beans, reserving

the cooking liquid.

3. Melt the lard in a heavy skillet over medium heat. Add the beans

and lightly fry them in the lard. Set aside.

4. Melt the drippings in a large heavy pot over medium heat. Add the

onion and cook until it is translucent.

5. Combine the sausage and the beef with all the spices up through the

oregano. Add this meat-and-spice mixture to the pot with the onion.

Break up any lumps with a fork and cook, stirring occasionally, until

the meat is very well browned.

6. Add the reserved bean-cooking liquid to the pot. Stir in all the

remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and cook,

uncovered, for 1/2 hour longer. Stir occasionally. Add water only if

necessary to maintain the consistency of a chunky soup.

7. Taste when curiosity becomes unbearable and courage is strong.

Adjust seasonings.

 

 

 

 

       1981 Winning Recipe Chili

 

      Yield: 4 Servings

 

  2 1/2 lb beef brisket,1 cubes

      1 lb lean pork,ground

      1    large onion,chopped fine

      2 T  wesson oil

      3    garlic cloves,minced

      2 T  green chilies,Diced

      8 oz tomato sauce

      1    salt and pepper,To Taste

      1    beef bouillon cube

     12 oz budweiser beer

  1 1/4 c  water

      6 T  chili powder

  2 1/2 T  cumin,Ground

    1/8 t  dry mustard

    1/8 t  brown sugar

      1    oregano,pinch

 

In a large kettle or Dutch oven, brown the Beef, Pork and Onions in

hot Wesson Oil.  Add Salt and Pepper to taste. Add remaining

ingredients. Stir well.   Cover and simmer 3 to 4 hours, until meat

      Yield: 25 Servings

 

      4    medium onions,minced

     10 lb beef brisket,Lean

      1    finely,Chopped

    1/4 c  oil

  1 1/2    cloves garlic,minced

      2 lb pork,Ground

      1 cn (7oz) whole green chiles

      1    minced

      1 cn (15oz) tomato sauce

      1 lb whole tomatoes

      1    finely,Chopped

      1 T  cumin

      1 t  salt

      1 t  oregano

      1 T  dry mustard

      1 oz tequila

      1    can beer

      2 cn (3 oz) chili powder

      2    beef bouillon cubes

 

Brown onions, and beef in oil. Stir in garlic, pork, chiles, cumin,

oregano, salt, dry mustard, tomato sauce, tomatoes, tequila, beer,

chili powder and bouillon cubes.

 

Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer 2-3 hours. Stir

occasionally. Do not stir the last 30 min before serving.

3-Step Blueberry Cheesecake

3-Step Blueberry Cheesecake

2 pk 8 oz cream cheese

1/2 c Sugar

1/4 ts Vanilla

2 Eggs

1 9oz graham cracker crust

1 cn Blueberry pie filling

Mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla until smooth and creamy. Add eggs and mix well. Pour into pie crust. Spoon 1/4 to 1/3 of pie filling on to top. Gently swirl with toothpick. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until center is set. Cool to room temperature and then refrigerate. Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Crust Bottom:

2 c Graham cracker crumbs

1/4 c Sugar

6 tb Butter, melted

Cake:

2 1/4 lb Cream Cheese

1 2/3 c Sugar

5 Eggs

1 c Bailey's Irish Cream

1 tb Vanilla Extract

1 c Semisweet Chocolate Chips

Topping:

1 c Whipping Cream

2 tb Sugar

1 ts Instant Coffee Powder

Garnish:

Chocolate curls

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Coat a 9" springform pan with nonstick vegetable spray. Combine crumbs and 1/4 cup of sugar in the pan and stir in the melted butter. Press mixture into bottom and 1 inch up the sides of the pan. Bake until light brown, about 7 minutes. In a food processor, beat cream cheese, add 1-2/3 cup sugar and eggs and mix. Blend in Bailey's and vanilla. Sprinkle half of the chocolate chips over crust and spoon in filling. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips. Bake cake until puffed, springy in center and golden brown, about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Cool

cake completely. Beat whipping cream, 2 tablespoons sugar and coffee powder until peaks form. Spread mixture over cooled cake and garnish with chocolate curls.

Cheesecake with Cranberry Jewel Topping

1 1/2 c Vanilla wafers, crushed

1/4 c Sugar

6 tb Butter; melted

Filling:

1/2 c Whipping cream 1 pk Vanilla powder 1 1/2 lb Cream cheese; room temp. 1 c Sugar 1 pn Salt

4 lg Eggs

Topping:

12 oz Fresh or frozen cranberries 3/4 c Sugar 1/2 c Cranberry juice concentrate 1/4 c Water Preheat oven to 350 F.

Crust:

Wrap the bottom and outsides of 9-inch springform pan with aluminum foil. Lightly butter inside of pan and set aside. Combine cookie crumbs, sugar and butter. Press mixture onto bottom and halfway up sides of prepared springform pan. Bake for 10 minutes on center rack of preheated oven. Set aside, but do not turn off oven.

Filling

Using electric mixer, blend together all ingredients. Add eggs and mix just until well-combined.

Pour filling into prepared crust.

Bake until center is just set, about 50 minutes. Refrigerate cake immediately, and leave until thoroughly chilled (at least 6 hours or overnight).

Topping:

Combine all ingredients in heavy medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.

Bring to a boil and continue cooking for 3 minutes. Strain mixture through a sieve set over a lage bowl, pressing firmly with the back of a spoon to force as much of the liquid through sieve as possible. Spoon warm topping evenly over cold cake. Refrigerate until topping is set, at least 2

hours. (Can be prepared 1 day before serving. Store covered in refrigerator.)

To serve, pipe rosettes of whipped cream around edges of cake. Garnish with whole cranberries.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Amaretto & Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip Cheesecake

Crust:

1 c Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tb Butter, unsalted

1 1/4 c Vanilla wafer crumbs

1/4 c Nuts; finely chopped

3 tb Sugar, confectioners'

Filling:

24 oz Cream cheese; softened

1 c Sugar

4 lg Egg; room temp

1/4 c Amaretto

2 tb Cornstarch

1 ts Vanilla extract

1 c Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips

Topping:

2 c Sour cream; room temp

1/4 c Sugar

1 ts Amaretto

1/2 c Almonds, toasted sliced

Make the crust: Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F. Lightly butter the bottom and side of a 9 x 3" round springform pan. Trim a 9" cardboard cake circle so that it fits snugly within the curved lip of the bottom of the springform pan. Cover the top of the cardboard lined springform bottom with a piece of aluminum foil, leaving a 2" overhang all the way around the edge. Carefully attach the side of the springform so as not to tear the foil. Wrap the foil overhang halfway up the side of the springform pan. Lightly butter the foil covered bottom and side

of the springform pan. In the top of a double boiler over hot, not simmering, water, melt the chocolate chips with the butter, stirring frequently, until smooth. Remove the top part of the double boiler from the bottom and cool the chocolate mixture until tepid. In a large bowl, stir together the crumbs, nuts and sugar until combined. Add the chocolate mixture and using a fork, stir together the chocolate and crumbs, until combined. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan, making sure that the crust extends 1" up the side of the pan. Set aside. Make the filling: In a large bowl, using a hand held electric mixer set at medium high speed, beat the cream cheese with the sugar for 2 to 3 minutes, or until smooth.
